Congratulations Jill and Jesse! Once again it was a pleasure working with you two. Your wedding was fabulous and it was great to see you guys again. Their getting-ready, ceremony, and reception were all held at the The St. Regis New York which made it easy to go from one to the other as well!
We started the day with me shooting Jill in her lovely suite where her bridal party had stayed from the previous night. It was a gorgeous room, a beautiful teal and white theme with large open floor to ceiling windows that gave a wonderful view of the cityscape that is midtown Manhattan. Although the day was a little gray, the ambient lighting from the soft daylight was wonderful!
Jill looks stunning in her dress from Vera Wang, definitely an excellent modern choice that she kept simple and minimalist. It was so great to work with Jill and her bridesmaids! Everyone was in a great celebratory mood which always shows in pictures. As we moved from getting-ready to her just about to walk in for the first look I could feel the excitement build with a small twinge of anxiety there too and it was lovely to see Jesse's reaction as he turned around. Goodness grooms, first looks are a wonderful way to have that surprise in intimacy and a bit more privacy than the traditional ceremony reveal.
Our second shooter, Sam, did a great job at taking care of Jesse and his groomsmen as they prepared as well. Jesse had a sharp, and masculine suit which he too kept simple and modern to really go well with Jill's dress. I was so glad to see the energy and warmth of their love for each other only grew since the last time I worked with them!
While we did try to have a photo shoot, the weather was rather uncooperative and we had to cut it a bit short unfortunately. Otherwise, all the shoots were great and the St. Regis with it's ornate interiors really exuded class and luxury.
The ceremony was a quaint, intimate time spent with friends and family on the second floor of the hotel and wow was the room gorgeous. With huge chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and gold-accented seating, when you stepped in you really got a lovely impression.
The cocktail hour and reception on the other hand were held on the rooftop which really gave a nice view of the city that never sleeps. As the sun set, and the city came to life, the party was just getting started for everyone. Jill and Jesse took some time away from the guests to enjoy the first half of the cocktail hour in privacy and when they returned, the guests were eager to celebrate the newly weds!
The reception was... best described as free, fun, and relaxed. No one was stealing the stage besides the bride and groom and from the music to the dancing and the speeches given, the wedding was truly heartfelt and genuine! It was great to see Jill and her father take a different spin on the father-daughter dance with an exciting and upbeat dance and the parents' speeches were really something special. Not to say the other speeches weren't, but weddings are definitely a special day for the parents as well and it really showed!
